In an effort to raise healthy and well-adjusted pups, much quality time and care is invested in their development. Our puppies are brought up with Absolute Dogs, Puppy Culture, Enriched Puppy Protocol, and Avidog methods. From the time they are born in our home, everything we do with the puppies and expose them to begins to shape their responses and behavior. Very early on we practice a variation of ENS (early neurological stimulation), a series of short daily handling techniques which benefits cardiovascular performance, adrenal glands, stress tolerance, and disease resistance. ENS can also contribute to optimism, calmness, problem solving, and confidence throughout a dog’s lifetime.
In addition to ENS, we implement ESI (early scent introduction, an olfactory sense program), in which the puppies have a new scent introduced daily - the scents are never food related or aversive. In addition to ENS, we implement ESI (early scent introduction, an olfactory sense program), in which the puppies have a new scent introduced daily - the scents are never food related or aversive. Through each phase of development we are taking appropriate and proven measures to ensure the optimal outcome for puppies. Exciting and significant changes take place during the transitional period – the puppies’ eyes and ears begin opening, and rapidly developing senses contribute to increased interaction with mom, one another, us, and the world around them.
On the heels of this phase comes the time for carefully managed socialization, to introduce food, and to have a dedicated toilet area. Puppies also begin to enjoy outdoor sessions and gentle auditory as well as visual stimulation. On the heels of this phase comes the time for carefully managed socialization, to introduce food, and to have a dedicated toilet area. Puppies also begin to enjoy outdoor sessions and gentle auditory as well as visual stimulation. By five weeks of age, we have begun programs for engagement, problem solving, and confidence building—as well as introduction to crate training, car rides, grooming, and hand feeding. Once they are fully weaned, we start puppies in behavior shaping games and initiate concept direction. Everything we do with them is by careful intention with the goal of building resilience.
By providing diverse environmental enrichment and variety, we are equipping puppies with positive cumulative experiences necessary for an attentive and happy attitude towards future learning. This foundation is then yours to expand upon and enhance – you will become the learning guide for your puppy, the one to reap the joys of loving companionship and unyielding devotion!
One of the priorities in determining a puppy which will be well suited to a prospective home is for clients to complete (in detail) the Puppy Questionnaire, and submit it along with any additional information they feel is pertinent. This information goes a long way in learning about you and aids in matching you with the puppy which best meets your needs. We look forward to facilitating the addition of your new family member, and will be here to provide breeder support throughout their lifetime!
While we do accept puppy reservations, there can be a limited waitlist, so please inquire about availability! Puppy choice is based on the order in which reservations are received, in combination with clients’ specifications on what type of puppy will be best suited to their lifestyle. Reservations are non-refundable and remaining balances on puppies are due when they reach six weeks of age. Puppies can be released to their new homes at 8 weeks of age (no earlier) although we prefer to keep them in our puppy program until 9 or 10 weeks old. All puppies come with: Bergtor Puppy T&Cs (+ puppy info, continued care resources, and individual records), Training Academy Subscription, AKC registration form, 30 day complimentary pet health insurance through AKC, and an awesome care package!
Taking steps to make certain that puppies are physically healthy is also of great importance. They are dewormed and vaccinated at the appropriate ages, fed an optimally nutritious diet, and have health checks completed by a veterinarian prior to going to their new homes. We do provide a 26 month health warranty for our puppies.
