     Hello there! We appreciate your interest in our dogs, and hope that the following overview gives you an idea of the passion that we have for these spectacular creatures as well as our commitment to them. We breed only working line German Shepherds (DDR, Czech, and West German) here at our bijou kennel in the mountains of northern California. For us, breeding is about striving to provide our pups with a solid genetic foundation aligned with the temperament standards set forth by Captain Max von Stephanitz in his development of the working German Shepherd dog.

     These are dogs which have been carefully bred throughout generations to preserve as well as enhance the skill and competence that their predecessors were so admired for. Primary characteristics we breed for include stable temperament, well balanced medium level drives, clear nerves, proper utility representative structure, and of course, excellent health. Our goal to responsibly factor high health standards into our breeding program results in only breeding dogs whom have been health tested and certified as free of common genetic concerns.

     While they are “working” dogs, they are also very much part of our family and it is a rare moment indeed for us to be without their company. These shepherds are descended from some of the oldest, finest, most established and well known working bloodlines out there; which have consistently produced excellent and highly praised companion/family, service/assistance, protection, military/law enforcement, SAR, detection, sport, and farm/ranch dogs. All of our dogs are trained as well as handled by either myself or my daughter, and thoroughly enjoyed/doted upon by my husband.

     We believe that in addition to the criteria of health, temperament, and appropriate bloodlines, dogs used for breeding should be proven worthy of passing along their genes through various accomplishments — hence we actively work in obedience & protection with Working Dogs of America, and in obedience with the American Kennel Club. Life for us is structured around the dogs, and we’re happy to oblige them. Being kept by our German Shepherds is positively splendid: we’re provided endless entertainment, forever indulged in learning, and have hearts filled to bursting!
